Short and sweet this week. I spent my time finishing up these pieces I started over the summer (totally blanked on taking a picture of my purple wormy boy will do tomorrow and add later.) So I tufted 3 little rugs for my babies to sit on comfortably. I finished the pink and blue boys with layers of encaustic wax and resin, used hot glue to get the spit drip action. I fucking LOVE how the colors look together, I am happy with my decision to make all the rugs this lovely lavender color, I think it will make the body of work flow together nicely.

I took these photos in the little white booth and then packed them up good and bubble wrapped, shipped them off to Gainesville for the moisturizer show! Hope they travel safely. This week I might just keep going with my rugs and make them for the rest of the pieces while I am still enjoying it. Almost had a meltdown trying to take photos on an actual camera today, so these were just taken with my phone. Are they good? No. Are they better than photos I've taken with an actual camera? Absolutely. Sometimes you take what you can get, gotta get back in the dating game simply for another journalist partner to take my portfolio pics....

Had progress critique this week and still mulling that over, I totally agree on the unfired body not being enough for peeps, but I weirdly like the contrast that exist because of it? Unfired body against the softness of the rug and unfired body against the wetness of the wax/resin combo. I do think flock would look nice so I might practice that on one of the pieces I have "cancelled" and same with doing an entire piece in encaustic wax to see if that works better. Regardless I am at ease with where these pieces are at for the time being, I think I learned a lot from making them and can use this feedback in the future. Even the "mistakes" I made with the wax I kinda love, its so messy, which allows me to think the piece has a mind of its own. I am really thrilled to get these all done and see them in the SpaceLab :)
